DOTA "A" level

unlike DoTA "S" paper which requires a much higher level of thinking and analysis and strictly essay-based, DoTA "A" level places heavy emphasis on practical and hands-on approach.

the advised guideline for candidates for dota "A" syllabus is as follows:

1 hour tutorial
4 hour practical
1 hour lecture
per week

the breakdown of the test is as follows:

45% Paper 1: Practical SPA (1 hour)
In this paper candidates will play a normal game of DoTA, and random characters will be assigned to assess candidates' versatility. Candidates will choose between the scourge group or the sentinel group three weeks prior to the practical exam; only characters from their chosen groups will be selected.

Candidates will have to stop work by one hour's time, regardless whether the game has finished. Candidates can finish the game before an hour. Invigilators will be assigned to check on the candidates' skills.

Candidates will be given 1500 Gold t the start of the game.

Skill A: Planning
This skill section access the candidates' skill in planning his DoTA strategy as well as his teamwork with the other candidates on his team. Candidates will be given 15 minutes before the 1 hour practical to discuss with their teammates and come out with a strategy proposal. Invigilators will be sitting in to observe the candidates' performance.

Skill B: Experimental Skills - Micro-management and Farming
Part I: This skill section access the candidates' skill in controlling his/her characters and able to press the relevant hotkeys, and killing other heroes and how candidates is able prevent themselves from being killed.
Part II: This skill access the candidates' skill in killing creeps/ taking down towers/ harrass enemy heroes, either in a dominant or supportive role.

Skill C: Analysis - Item-management
this skill section access candidates' ability to utilise his/her item according to his/her heroes' needs and circumstances

Skill D: Sources of Error/Limitations of Equipments
this skills section access candidates ability to reflect on their game and spot sources of error in their strategies. Candidates are also expected to mention limitations of computer equipments such as the mouse/keyboard/CPU system etc.

these will be used to access candidates' gaming skills.

25% Paper 2: MCQ
In this paper candidates will answer 30 MCQ questions relevant to DoTA. Questions will come out from these possible areas:

1. History of DoTA
- Evolution of DoTA to DoTA-Allstars
- History of Guinsoo and Icefrog
- Evolution of DoTA map
2. Theory of DoTA (hotkeys, heroes, items, areas, characters)
3. Scenarios of DoTA

Paper 3: Sourced-based/ Essay 30%
In this paper candidate will answer 1 sourced-based question worth 25 marks and 1 essay question worth 25 marks.

anyway as we indulge in our own hedonisitc revelry, like pooling, dota, etc we forgot the very group of people that has moulded us into such incorrigible slackers confident suave young men. our ri teachers!!! how can we forget to go bai nian to them lol. lets give kwa some bak kwa haha can someone bring on fri? and lol hence you all go and bai nian 1st b4 going to play. haha rmb to bring ur civees.

p.s. another is that i have combined house comm meeting at 1030. lol wtf. try to drag the bai nian thing so that i can join u all later lol

outings

lol 27th is really a bad day considering that theres that stupid SATs which i have yet studied for. however, in the name of hedonistic fun, i will still go if there is indeed an outing :)

instead of chomp chomp lets go to some exotic places haha. i think the shop featured on some channel u food show is quite nice :)

otherwise, we can go to some nice western/jap restaurant around somerset mrt which a set meal costs as measely as $5.woot! as recommended by my CO-OGL lol. went during orientation with my og and its not bad considering the price tag haha. even a mac meal costs 6 bucks now wtf.
